Ledger’s $93 Million Exploit: Here’s What Really Happened

Share

Ledger is investigating cryptocurrency losses totaling $92.9 million affecting customers in Southeast Asia who purchased hardware wallets through CryptoBilis, an official reseller in Indonesia, Malaysia and the Philippines. Funds were drained from 311 wallets across five networks: Bitcoin, Ethereum, TRON, BNB Chain and Polygon. Tether froze approximately $10 million in USDT while 14,810 ETH and 203.8 BTC remain in suspected wallets. Ledger suspended the reseller’s sales and advised affected customers to consider transferring their assets to a new wallet. The precise attack method remains unconfirmed, but early observations point toward a possible supply-chain issue involving counterfeit or tampered devices.
