An investigation by blockchain analytics firm Bitquery published on October 7 found that 58% of Polygon’s net USDT0 holder growth matched scam patterns, challenging the celebrated figure of 8.1 million holders. Out of the 1.71 million addresses added over the preceding 13 months, approximately 998,000 exhibited characteristics associated with address-poisoning scams. USDT0 supply on Polygon simultaneously dropped 41%, falling from $1.35 billion to $798 million, while addresses holding at least $10 declined 42%, from approximately 1.24 million to 720,000. Additionally, 48% of holders controlled less than one cent and 65% had neither sent nor received the token during the preceding year, illustrating the gap between holder growth and meaningful balances.
