Thinking Machines Lab launched Inkling 2 Small on November 5, 2026, less than four months after the first version of its Inkling family. The mixture-of-experts model has 594 billion total parameters, of which 17 billion are active for each request, and scored 31 on the Artificial Analysis Intelligence Index 5.0. It ranks fourth on DesignArena and first among open-weights models, despite currently being available as a proprietary offering on the Tinker platform. Usage costs $0.30 per million input tokens and $1.00 per million output tokens, while the weights are planned for release under an Apache 2.0 license after external safety testing.
