Moscow accuses Telegram of not cooperating in the fight against drug trafficking. Kirill Smurov, interim head of the Main Directorate for Drug Control, reproached Pavel Durov’s messaging app for failing to respond to any requests and sharing no information. Roskomnadzor claims to have sent over 150,000 content removal requests to Telegram without receiving any response. Pavel Durov has been prosecuted by the FSB since July for supporting terrorist activities and appears on Rosfinmonitoring’s list. Moscow courts have also imposed over 100 million rubles in fines on Telegram in the first half of 2026.
