Aptos Labs, in partnership with Jump, launched the private beta of Shelby, its decentralized storage platform, in October 2026. Three anchor enterprise customers — Teepin for artificial intelligence, Pictor Network for distributed 3D rendering and PathPulse for spatial intelligence — are now testing the system with real workloads. Shelby targets sub-second read performance and is compatible with the S3 interface popularized by Amazon Web Services. The platform uses smart contracts and erasure coding to verify data integrity and ensure redundancy. Aptos token APT is used for transaction fees and coordination within the Shelby network.
