Starknet is considering migrating to an independent chain (Layer 1) to control its own security upgrades rather than waiting for Ethereum to evolve. This transition, targeted for 2027, notably aims to protect against quantum computing threats. According to Eli Ben-Sasson, CEO of StarkWare, this independence would allow Starknet to implement quantum-resistant cryptography advancements more quickly.
