Is XRP Decentralized? Cyber Capital Founder Says It’s ‘Straight-Up Fraud’

Justin Bons, founder of Cyber Capital, has accused XRP advocates of fraud for marketing XRP as decentralized to retail investors. The XRP Ledger shipped an emergency software update on September 25, version 3.4.1, which includes security-sensitive fixes currently not published in source code form. The fixBatchV1_2 amendment is expected to become mandatory on October 9, which would cause outdated servers to become amendment-blocked and unable to sync with the network. Bons argues that the Unique Node List (UNL) model, where Ripple and the XRP Ledger Foundation publish recommended validator lists, gives these organizations too much power over the network, contradicting claims of decentralization.
