Starknet is considering leaving Ethereum as early as 2027 to become an independent layer 1 blockchain, strengthening its security against the threat of quantum computers. Eli Ben-Sasson, CEO of StarkWare, is defending this evolution citing quantum risks and artificial intelligence threats that could materialize faster than expected. StarkWare’s three-step roadmap includes replacing cryptographic tools, adapting smart contracts, and removing dependencies on Ethereum. The STRK token trades at around $0.060, up 15% in 24 hours, 37.51% over a week, and 91.66% over 30 days, but remains 98.7% below its all-time high of $4.41 reached in February 2024.
