Amazon confirmed it had cut jobs in its Stores unit, which oversees its main e-commerce website. The company let go fewer than 1,000 white-collar workers, primarily in the US, India and the UK. These layoffs are part of an ongoing series of reductions that began last year following a larger round of 30,000 job cuts. They coincide with Prime Big Deal Days, one of Amazon’s biggest shopping events. Jeff Bezos, founder and executive chairman, said the company had overhired during the pandemic.
