Fed’s minutes show no appetite for a series of interest-rate hikes

The minutes from the Federal Reserve’s September policy meeting, released Wednesday, show that no official wanted to implement a series of interest rate hikes. Fed officials were united in their decision to raise the benchmark rate to a range of 3.75% to 4%. However, many portrayed this increase as insurance against sticky inflation rather than a necessary measure to fight inflation.
