Fintech company Metallicus has deployed an alpha version of the DogecoinVM payment layer on mainnet, making Dogecoin transactions 300 times faster. Company CEO and Dogecoin Foundation board member Marshall Hayner positioned this development as a direct technological solution to a major challenge Elon Musk identified in 2021, calling on the crypto community to increase Dogecoin’s throughput for global payment adoption. The solution uses the Snowman consensus protocol (Proof-of-Stake) instead of energy-intensive Proof-of-Work, reducing transaction finalization time to 0.15-0.25 seconds. Built on Metal Blockchain infrastructure without modifying Dogecoin Core, the architecture preserves the original UTXO model and compatibility with existing wallets. In alpha/beta phase with a 100 DOGE deposit cap, the project aims for practical applications in fintech, banking and platforms like X.
