Adam Iza, a crypto entrepreneur nicknamed “The Godfather,” was sentenced on October 5 to 78 months in federal prison by a court in Los Angeles for Meta advertising account fraud, tax evasion, and corruption of police officers. Between 2020 and 2023, he generated at least $36.36 million in gross revenue by fraudulently reselling access to Meta credit lines, causing $13.28 million in tax damage to the U.S. government. He also paid off-duty Los Angeles County Sheriff’s deputies for missions ranging from accessing confidential files to intimidating his adversaries, with five of them convicted for federal offenses. Judge Percy Anderson ordered $23.4 million in restitution. This sentence will be served concurrently with a 15-year sentence handed down in September by a Connecticut federal court for his role in a Bitcoin theft attempt that led to a kidnapping in Danbury in August 2024.
