Taiwanese lenders extended NT$4 trillion, approximately $126 billion, in loans during the first seven months of 2026, a record amount with much of it flowing to the AI supply chain. Loans to AI-linked companies grew nearly eight times faster than mortgage lending over the same period. In Asia-Pacific, G3 syndicated lending reached $171 billion in the first nine months of 2026, a six-year high. Data center financing reached $56 billion year-to-date in 2026, already more than double the total for all of 2025. Hyperscaler debt leverage doubled from 0.9x to 1.8x within six months, raising concerns among regulators in Japan and Taiwan about concentration risk.
