Reflection AI, a New York-based startup backed by Nvidia with a $25 billion valuation, has launched Beam, its first open-source AI model. The model achieves performance comparable to GLM-5.2 and competes with leading Chinese models like Kimi K3 and DeepSeek V4 while being three to four times more efficient than Western competitors in computational costs. The company has signed massive agreements with SpaceX ($6.3 billion) and Nebius ($1 billion) to access Nvidia GB300 GPUs, and already supplies its models to the U.S. Department of Energy. Founded in March 2024 by former Google DeepMind researchers, it is currently developing a more powerful model to strengthen the Western position in this field.
