Aave raised the annual GHO borrow rate to 4.5% on its Ethereum Core market, aligning it with the sGHO savings rate. The change from 4.25% to 4.5% occurred between October 3 and October 4, according to Aavescan hourly data. The hike aims to incentivize borrowers to repay positions by bringing stablecoins into GSM modules, replenishing depleted USDC and USDT reserves as reported by TokenLogic on October 2. Outstanding GHO borrowed stood at approximately 116 million on October 2, compared to 115.8 million on October 5. TokenLogic had proposed the increase to eliminate the 25-basis-point gap that previously existed between borrowing costs and savings yields.
