At the start of Q4 2026, Josh Brown and Sean Russo from Ritholtz Wealth Management reviewed their Best Stocks list containing 145 names. Two winners stand out: Intel (INTC) surged 214% since early January as the company rebuilt itself around data center processors and foundry operations, with the stock now trading around $119. Valero Energy (VLO), one of the world’s largest independent refiners, jumped 142% for the year, driven by an oil price shock following the closure of the Strait of Hormuz which disrupted roughly 20% of global oil supply. Two losers fell off the list: CRH (CRH), a building materials manufacturer, fell 31% due to rising interest rates weighing on residential real estate, and First Solar (FSLR) was dropped after a brief stint on the list. The 10-year U.S. Treasury yield reached 5.24% on September 28, its highest closing level since 2007.
