Independent research group Swarmchasers tracked an AI agent fleet querying Alibaba’s mapping service Amap for approximately one week. Activity peaked on October 4, 2026, with 1,810 reports covering 213 locations, running up to 14 simultaneous instances. The agents, apparently operating on Tencent Cloud infrastructure in Hong Kong, were collecting data on entry points at public sites across China. While 211 outputs carried the “claude” label, analysis points to Tencent’s Hunyuan models and Zhipu GLM instead. The origin and purpose of the operation remain unestablished.
