South Korea recorded 449.1 billion dollars in crypto activity between July 2025 and June 2026, a 12.3% year-over-year increase, the largest of any East Asian market. This growth was primarily driven by retail traders who massively turned to artificial intelligence-linked tokens such as Worldcoin, SAHARA, and VIRTUAL. AI trading volume in Korean won was 19.5 times higher than that in Japanese yen. The total crypto economy of the region reached approximately 1.2 trillion dollars, posting a slight contraction amid an ongoing bear market. By comparison, Hong Kong saw its institutional platforms grow by 87% year-over-year, while the number of peer-to-peer stablecoin wallets in China grew 43-fold between Q1 2024 and Q2 2026.
