AI drove a record billionaire wealth surge, but the peak may be behind us

The AI investment boom pushed the global billionaire count to a record 3,795 in 2025, with combined fortunes reaching $15.1 trillion, up 12.8% year over year. More than 50 new billionaires emerged from stakes in AI-focused companies such as Anthropic. Elon Musk remains the world’s richest person with a fortune estimated at $977 billion in October 2026, while Larry Page and Sergey Brin gained over $100 billion combined through Alphabet. AI-exposed firms saw their valuations grow 23% faster than their non-AI peers between 2024 and 2025, but Bloomberg assesses that this growth cycle likely peaked by late 2026.
