Smart ring maker Oura delayed its initial public offering at the last minute, citing market uncertainty, but analysts like Anshel Sag at Moor Insights & Strategy suspect another reason behind this withdrawal, calling it weird. Meta is facing strong backlash against its Ray-Ban smart glasses, nicknamed “pervert glasses” on social media due to their discreet cameras enabling abusive uses. Analyst Gil Luria at DA Davidson believes camera-equipped glasses are “done for” and will need to be revisited in ten years, though Meta launched a camera-free option last month. Apple, Google, Meta and other tech giants are betting on AI wearables, but the value proposition of these devices must overcome the negative perception of surveillance associated with artificial intelligence, according to experts.
