YouTuber PewDiePie claims OpenAI suspended his account twice during the development of Ajax, a lightweight 9-billion-parameter AI model designed to run on a personal computer. Ajax is based on Alibaba’s Qwen 3.5 and will be integrated into Odysseus, the self-hosted AI app PewDiePie launched in June. After the first ban, he used GPT-5.6 Sol to generate training data, then stripped the model’s built-in refusals using the open-source tool Heretic, a technique known as abliteration. OpenAI’s terms of service prohibit using its outputs to develop competing models, which triggered the second ban. The model is not yet available for download, though a download page previously featured a countdown set for October 3 at 08:25 Japan time.
