Stani Kulechov, creator of Aave, published a governance proposal on Friday to create the Aave Foundation, an independent foundation tasked with holding the protocol’s intellectual property, including the brand and domain names, for the benefit of the DAO. This structure would reduce the “duality” between the AAVE token and Aave Labs equity by transferring strategic assets under direct decentralized governance control. Aave Labs, the company founded by Kulechov, would receive no seats or nomination rights on the foundation’s board, with governance holding sole oversight. At the time of publication, the AAVE token was trading around $179, down 1.85% over 24 hours. The proposal does not include any new yields or revenue sharing for token holders.
