South Korea will launch on February 4, 2027 a new regulatory framework allowing the issuance and circulation of stocks, bonds, and other financial products via blockchain technology. The Korea Securities Depository (KSD) will serve as the central anchor point connecting the traditional financial system to distributed ledger technology, and is already working to establish a connection with Avalanche’s decentralized network. In September, Avalanche’s tokenized stock market cap grew by $245.5 million, the largest growth across all blockchains, with $131.2 million in net inflows during the last week of the month. Twelve brokerages have joined the KoSTO platform and KB Securities is integrating Securitize and Optimism platforms into its existing institutional investor relationships. The South Korean stock exchange exceeds $5 trillion, representing a major opportunity for Avalanche if the regulatory framework enables large-scale institutional adoption.
