Argentina announced on Friday a golden passport program allowing wealthy foreigners to obtain citizenship in exchange for a 350,000-dollar contribution to the public Treasury or an 800,000-dollar investment in government bonds held for seven years. Applications are expected to open before the end of the year and the program could generate up to 2.5 billion dollars in revenue. This initiative comes as Argentina faces nearly 25 billion dollars in foreign-currency debt payments coming due in 2027. The Argentine passport grants visa-free travel to more than 140 countries, making it a major asset for foreign investors seeking greater international mobility.
