Fiserv’s digital-asset platform went live on October 1 with Roughrider Coin, a dollar-backed stablecoin launched by the Bank of North Dakota to make interbank transfers more efficient across the state. Transactions are processed on Solana, while VersaBank serves as issuer and Fireblocks provides tokenization and security infrastructure. This deployment gives Solana a role as settlement infrastructure within a regulated US interbank payment product rather than a retail crypto application. The model could scale widely, as Fiserv already provides technology to a large number of US financial institutions.
