Deribit upgrades matching engine, cuts median latency by roughly 61x

Coinbase-owned derivatives exchange Deribit has replaced its Classic matching engine with a new system called Starbase. Median round-trip latency dropped from 4.7 ms to 76 microseconds, an improvement of approximately 61 times. The p99 latency, capturing the slowest 1% of requests, was reduced from 124 ms to 234 microseconds, an improvement of roughly 531 times. The new engine can process over 100,000 orders per second with sub-millisecond matching, including a measured peak of 23,836 requests per second.
