Passengers and crew foil co-pilot’s apparent attempt to crash FlyDubai flight to Israel

A co-pilot attempted to crash FlyDubai flight FZ1073 en route from Dubai to Tel Aviv. The pilot was stabbed but managed to fight back and open the cockpit door, allowing passengers and crew to overpower the attacker. The aircraft was diverted to Tabuk airport in Saudi Arabia with all 174 passengers and crew members safe. The injured pilot, Indian national Smit Machchhar, is in stable condition at a hospital in Tabuk. FlightRadar24 data shows extreme altitude fluctuations, with the plane dropping from over 14,000 feet in just 29 seconds, with vertical speeds reaching -30,000 to +10,000 feet per minute, far exceeding the normal range of +/- 4,000 feet per minute.
