Lloyds Banking Group and Visa completed a seven-day live pilot that settled 750,000 dollars in USDC stablecoin. The trial, which concluded on September 30, 2026, enabled cross-border dollar obligations to reach Visa in under one hour, including on weekends when traditional payment systems are typically inactive. The settlement was executed through Lloyds’ Corporate Markets branch in Jersey, with USDC sourced from Archax, a UK-regulated digital asset exchange. This marks the first stablecoin settlement initiative between Visa and a major UK banking group. The pilot also tested interoperability between the Canton blockchain network and public blockchains.
