HSBC’s Hong Kong subsidiary has announced the launch of its HSBC RedCoin stablecoin, an initiative based on a survey conducted among over 1,000 local clients. According to this study, 74 % of respondents identify at least one use case for stablecoins, with a clear preference for crypto trading and tokenized investments (57 %), followed by peer-to-peer transfers (53 %) and cross-border transfers (52 %). The stablecoin rollout will be progressive, starting with simple daily payments before expanding to operations for businesses and institutions. To address customer concerns about fraud (53 %), conversion simplicity (51 %) and reserve transparency (39 %), HSBC Hong Kong has also announced a series of educational materials.
