‘We can’t stifle it’: Trump says AI leaders ‘have to self-police’ AI technology that ‘will be bigger than the industrial revolution’

The U.S. president signed a voluntary agreement with them providing for internal and external reviews of the technology, while refusing to slow AI development, which he compared to the industrial revolution. The administration also unveiled America.gov, a chatbot designed to help citizens navigate government services. This favorable position contrasts with calls for caution from some executives, including Dario Amodei (Anthropic) who recently called for slowing development. Trump emphasized the global competition between the United States and China in this field, stating that the United States is leading by a wide margin.
