OpenAI CFO Sarah Friar takes to CNBC as company navigates IPO path and record fundraising

OpenAI closed a $122 billion funding round in March 2026, pushing its post-money valuation to $852 billion. Amazon led the round with a $50 billion commitment, while Nvidia and SoftBank each contributed $30 billion. The company confidentially filed for a US IPO in June 2026. Sarah Friar, former CFO of Square and CEO of Nextdoor, has served as OpenAI’s CFO since June 2024 and acts as the company’s primary voice on Wall Street. The September 2026 DevDay conference showcased more than 20 announcements, including models from the GPT-6 series.
