OpenAI launched Codex Cloud, a coding agent running entirely in isolated cloud containers. The service, bundled into ChatGPT paid plans (Pro, Business, Edu and Enterprise) at no additional cost, reduces task completion time by 90 percent through container caching. The GPT-5-powered version processed over 40 trillion tokens in its first three weeks. Access is available via the web app, IDE extensions, GitHub, Slack and mobile devices, plus a macOS desktop app introduced in February 2026. The platform integrates with AWS via Amazon Bedrock and can directly propose pull requests on GitHub.
