Tether said it has helped US authorities freeze nearly $550 million in Iran-linked USDT so far in 2026. Two main operations were carried out: over $344 million in April and over $130 million in July, totaling over $474 million. The company acted on information from the Treasury’s Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) and US law enforcement. The US Treasury also sanctioned Nobitex and BitBank, two Iranian cryptocurrency exchanges, and launched Operation Economic Outcast against the Iranian regime’s financial networks. Across all its cases, Tether said it has helped freeze more than $4.9 billion, including over $2.4 billion tied to US authorities.
