Hack de Bitget : THORChain refuse de bloquer les fonds volés

Bitget suffered a theft of $387.5 million on September 24 and asked THORChain to refuse service to the wallets linked to this attack. The protocol refused, citing its permissionless nature and comparing its role to that of Bitcoin or Ethereum. THORChain has no native mechanism to blacklist a specific address, although its operators can suspend broader activities such as swaps or outgoing signatures. This decision revives the debate initiated during the Bybit hack in February 2025, when a portion of the $1.5 billion stolen had transited through THORChain. Bitget launched a bounty representing 5% of recovered funds and states that its $464 million protection fund covers the loss.
