IBM connects its Digital Asset Haven platform to Swift’s shared ledger. An ISO 20022 adapter allows banks to send instructions related to tokenized deposits using existing payment formats, without replacing their current systems. This connection enables the transfer of digital claims 24 hours a day, although final settlement still goes through traditional systems like T2 in the euro zone or Fedwire in the United States. Over 40 institutions participated in designing Swift’s shared ledger, including Citi, HSBC, BNP Paribas, UBS, and Wells Fargo. IBM also offers a local version of its platform on IBM Z and LinuxONE mainframes for institutions that prefer to keep their keys and data within their own infrastructure.
