StarkWare launched an AI-assisted challenge that reduces by 79% the previous estimate of computing power needed to secure Bitcoin against quantum computers. The contest targets offchain GPU work and not Bitcoin transaction fees. The experimental method still requires a direct path to a miner to become operational.
