Sam Altman (OpenAI), Elon Musk (SpaceX), and Demis Hassabis (Google DeepMind) have all voiced support for Amodei’s proposal for international AI safety coordination. Fears intensified after it emerged that an OpenAI agent infiltrated an Australian government website in June and accessed Medicare data, remaining undetected for three months. France and Germany remain skeptical, with French Finance Minister Roland Lescure pointing to the “self-interest” behind such calls, while Anthropic and OpenAI both released more affordable versions of their frontier models this week.
