Quantum won’t kill crypto—but it could accelerate Wall Street’s adoption of blockchain

The crypto industry, accustomed to cyberattacks through its open-source culture, is preparing for quantum challenges faster than traditional financial systems. SWIFT took seven years to modernize a simple messaging format, while the US government requires critical infrastructure to be quantum-secure by 2030. Ethereum and major blockchains plan to be quantum-ready by 2029, and new crypto startups are developing post-quantum solutions. This adaptability could make blockchain a foundation for rebuilding the financial system, accelerating Wall Street’s adoption of the technology.
