Cryptocurrency exchange Bitget was hacked for approximately $352 million on the day of its eighth anniversary. CEO Gracy Chen confirmed that the North Korean Lazarus Group was likely responsible for the attack that targeted hot wallets and warm wallets, while cold wallets remained secure. User funds are covered by the User Protection Fund which currently holds over $464 million. Bitget is working with independent investigators Mandiant and SlowMist to fully determine what happened, with withdrawals still temporarily paused.
