Denmark’s central bank Danmarks Nationalbank has significantly revised upward its economic growth forecast due to Novo Nordisk’s exceptional performance in the U.S. market. The 2026 growth projection has been doubled to 4%, compared to 1.8% forecast in March, representing a 2.2 percentage point increase. This surge is mainly driven by Novo Nordisk’s agreement with the U.S. administration, which granted access to a larger patient base through public health insurance schemes. Despite strong GDP growth, the bank notes limited domestic spillover effects, as most of the growth stems from production abroad. The agreement with the U.S. government included a price reduction of up to 30% for selected weight-loss and diabetes medications.
