The system went live on September 21 and connects tokenized asset platforms with TARGET Services, allowing transactions involving distributed-ledger technology to settle against central-bank money. It is distinct from the retail digital-euro project and addresses the need for reliable settlement with finality in tokenized securities markets. The launch reflects a broader trend of central banks building bridges between conventional financial infrastructure and distributed-ledger technology.
