Turkey proposes new conditions to US and Iran in push to end war

Turkey, through its Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan, has proposed new conditions to end the conflict between the United States and Iran. The conflict erupted on February 28, 2026, following US and Israeli strikes on Iranian sites. Iran has set seven conditions, including a complete ceasefire, the release of its frozen assets, and the lifting of the naval blockade on the Strait of Hormuz, through which roughly a fifth of global oil passes. Qatar serves as an intermediary between Washington and Tehran for negotiations. The coming weeks will determine whether these proposals will advance toward actual negotiations.
