GEA Group invested 8 million euros in Solar Foods, acquiring a 5.5% stake in the Finnish company that developed Solein, a protein powder produced from CO2 and hydrogen. The German group generated revenue of 2.7 billion euros in the first half of 2026, up 5.7%, with EBITDA of 456.5 million euros, representing a 16.8% margin. GEA has committed to achieving net zero across its entire value chain by 2040, investing approximately 175 million euros in decarbonizing its factories. The company notably enabled Danish dairy producer Arla to reduce energy consumption by more than 50% through an industrial heat pump developed alongside its milk spray dryer. CEO Stefan Klebert champions an approach where sustainability constitutes a profitable business model rather than a constraint, as European energy costs remain high and reserves depleted.
