The Standard Chartered Effect: Is bank research becoming crypto’s new short-term catalyst?

Share

Standard Chartered initiated coverage of Arbitrum’s ARB token on September 15 with a $10 price target for 2030, implying roughly 77 times upside from the token trading near $0.13. In the same session, ARB gained 5.77% while Bitcoin fell 3.91% and Ethereum fell 5.74%, as the Senate failed to advance the CLARITY Act on a 49-50 vote. This reaction represents the cleanest case so far of a token moving against the broader market following a bank initiation. Standard Chartered’s thesis rests on Arbitrum becoming infrastructure for tokenized traditional finance, projecting tokenized assets reaching $4 trillion by end of 2028. The open question remains: whether this is a genuine institutional catalyst or just another coincidence that looked like a pattern for a single afternoon.
