Crypto Reacts: Bitcoin Slides as Clarity Act Fails to Clear Senate Vote

The U.S. Senate failed Tuesday to invoke cloture on the Digital Asset Market Clarity Act, with 50 senators voting against it and 49 in favor, falling short of the 60 votes needed to advance the bill to debate. Bitcoin slid from a session high near $77,200 to a low around $75,600, before paring losses to trade down approximately 3.2% on the day. The cloture vote effectively ends the bill’s chances for 2026, with only about 22 working days left on the Senate calendar before midterm campaigning takes over. The decline was measured as traders had already largely priced in the bad news, with Polymarket odds on the Clarity Act becoming law falling to 17% Tuesday morning from about 34% on Monday. The Digital Chamber called the result a « setback » rather than a defeat and remains committed to pursuing comprehensive digital asset regulation.
