OpenAI’s Sam Altman Warns Humans Could Lose Control of AI

Sam Altman, CEO of OpenAI, has called on AI companies to accept slower development to strengthen the safety of their systems. He identified two major risks: losing control of AI over the future and excessive power concentration in one person or company. Altman said OpenAI now prepares safety cases ahead of certain training runs and asked companies not to wait for legislation to act. He also welcomed federal rules and independent auditors, while emphasizing that international coordination will be necessary.
