BloombergNEF has revised upward its forecast for US data center natural gas consumption, projecting 15 billion cubic feet per day (Bcf/d) by 2035. This estimate more than doubles the previous forecast of 6.9 Bcf/d from December 2025. Power demand from these data centers is expected to reach 194 gigawatts by 2035, compared to 118 GW in 2030. The cost of combined-cycle gas turbine plants has surged by 66% in two years, rising from under $1,500 per kilowatt in 2023 to $2,157 in 2025, while manufacturers such as GE Vernova and Siemens Energy have order books stretching years into the future.
