Derek Chiang, founder of ZeroDev at Ethlabs, announced that a collaboration aiming to reconcile Base-led EIP-8130 with Ethereum’s EIP-8141 Frame Transactions ended last week. Both parties will now pursue separate native account abstraction standards, with both proposals still listed as drafts in the official EIP registry. In practice, incompatible native transaction types may shift integration work to wallet and application developers. EIP-8130 relies on a new transaction type with an onchain keystore and account configuration system, while EIP-8141 divides transactions into sequences of frames using EVM code for validation. Chiang outlined two possible paths: broaden coordination on resources shared by Ethereum and Layer 2s, or accept protocol differences and build wallets that abstract them from users.
