Former British Prime Minister Boris Johnson and former Swedish Prime Minister Carl Bildt narrowly escaped a Russian drone strike on September 13, 2026, while traveling by train from Ukraine to Poland. A drone struck the locomotive of a regular Kyiv-Warsaw passenger train carrying 206 travelers, approximately 2 kilometers from NATO territory. All passengers were safely evacuated with no injuries. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy described the strike as a deliberate attack on civilian infrastructure, while Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk warned of potential escalation.
