Charles Hoskinson, founder of Cardano, says the rapid progress of artificial intelligence in advanced mathematics has far exceeded his initial expectations. He highlighted the extraordinary capabilities demonstrated by AI systems in generating and formally verifying complex mathematical proofs, particularly regarding the Navier-Stokes equations, one of the Clay Mathematics Institute’s Millennium Prize Problems. Hoskinson admitted that the emergence of large language models (LLMs) capable of generating proofs themselves was unexpected, stating that these systems had surprised him. He also warned researchers about the importance of using private AI environments to protect their intellectual property and confidential research logs from centralized providers.
